A Royal Affair - Honey Pot Performance

Pleasure is not frivolous, it is power. June 7 - A Royal Affair This event celebrates elders with a "senior prom." Attendees are invited to dress up, dance and reminisce on pleasure memories of the past while making some for the present and future. Music provided by Sheila "DJ Red" Thurman. June 19 - Fifth City Juneteenth Celebration This event honors Black resilience and preserves our culture and history. Attendees are invited to a daylong gathering of food, music, performance, and community in the First Church garden. Honey Pot Performance (HPP)—an Afro-feminist creative nonprofit collective—launches “Pleasure Power Portal” (PPP), a multi-generational artistic initiative inviting Black West Side residents to explore pleasure as a source of empowerment, healing and resilience. Through storytelling, varied forms of performance and dialogue, Pleasure Power Portal celebrates joy as a radical act of survival and resistance.
